What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a system of clear, custom-moulded plastic aligners that move teeth gradually. Each aligner is worn 20–22 hours a day for one to two weeks before swapping to the next in the series. Aligners are removable for eating and brushing, and the predicted final result is shown digitally via ClinCheck before any aligner is manufactured.

Why Picasso for Invisalign

Platinum Elite Provider Status

Align Technology's highest designation, awarded based on case volume completed and clinical outcome quality. Fewer than 1% of clinics worldwide hold this tier. It tells you our orthodontists are among the most experienced Invisalign practitioners in Vietnam.

iTero Intraoral Scanning

No gag-inducing putty moulds. The iTero scanner captures a precise 3D model of your teeth in minutes, the exact same digital workflow used by top Invisalign providers in Sydney, Paris and New York.

ClinCheck Simulation Before You Commit

Before your first aligner is manufactured, ClinCheck shows a frame-by-frame digital simulation of your predicted tooth movement and final outcome. Approve the plan, ask for adjustments, or walk away, all before any treatment fee.

Specialist Orthodontists

Invisalign cases at Picasso are delivered by orthodontists, not general dentists, Dr. Thuan Phung and Dr. Toan Le (Dr. Mathew) lead our orthodontic team across the group.

Full Package Range

Eight tiers from Essentials (short cases, single arch) through Comprehensive (5-year plans with unlimited refinements), plus Invisalign First for children with mixed dentition. We match the package to your case, not the other way around.

Six Branches, One Standard

Treatment can be transferred between any of our six clinics in Hanoi, Da Nang, HCMC and Da Lat, useful if you relocate within Vietnam during a multi-year case. Same orthodontic team, same protocols, same digital records.

Itemised Invisalign Pricing

The right package depends on case complexity and how many arches need treatment. A ClinCheck planning fee covers the iTero scan, photographs, digital case set-up and ClinCheck simulation, and is credited toward your package fee if you proceed. For published rate cards across Essentials, Express, Lite, Moderate, Comprehensive (3 and 5 year), and Invisalign First Phase 1 and Phase 2, see the dedicated cost guide.

Treatment Duration

Durations are estimates, your treating orthodontist confirms the timeline after reviewing your iTero scan and ClinCheck plan.

Essentials

6–12 months. Suitable for minor crowding, small relapse cases, or finishing tweaks after previous orthodontics.

Mild Cases

12–18 months. Light to moderate crowding, simple spacing, mild rotations.

Moderate Cases

18–24 months. Moderate crowding, mild bite correction, more complex tooth movements.

Comprehensive

Up to 5 years with refinements. Severe crowding, bite correction, extraction cases, complex finishing, Invisalign's full clinical capability.

Who Is, and Isn't, a Good Candidate?

Invisalign solves a wide range of orthodontic problems beautifully, but not all of them. Here's the honest version, decided after photographs, an iTero scan and a ClinCheck preview.

You're a Strong Candidate If

You have mild to moderate crowding, spacing, or relapse from previous orthodontics.

You have a stable bite or a bite issue that ClinCheck confirms can be corrected with aligners.

You can commit to wearing aligners 20–22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat, drink and brush.

Your gums are healthy and any decay has been treated.

You will wear retainers nightly afterwards, long-term, to hold the result.

You prefer a discreet, removable appliance over fixed brackets.

Invisalign May Not Be Right If

You have severe skeletal bite problems requiring surgical orthodontics.

You have very large rotations or complex extraction-driven cases, fixed braces are sometimes more predictable.

You cannot commit to 20–22 hours a day of wear, aligners only work when worn.

You are unwilling to wear retainers afterwards, teeth will drift back.

You have active untreated gum disease or extensive decay, both must be resolved first.

If fixed braces are the better tool, our orthodontist will say so on day one.

How Treatment Works

Five steps from first visit to final retainer.

1. Free Consultation

An orthodontist examines your bite, discusses your goals, and confirms whether Invisalign is the right tool for your case, or whether fixed braces would do a better job.

2. iTero Scan + ClinCheck

We capture a 3D scan of your teeth and build a digital treatment plan. You see a frame-by-frame simulation of the predicted outcome before any aligners are manufactured.

3. Aligners Arrive

Your full aligner series is custom-manufactured by Align Technology and shipped to the clinic. We fit your first set, attach any needed composite attachments, and walk you through wear and care.

4. Progress Check-Ins

Every 6–10 weeks we check tracking, review progress against the ClinCheck plan, and hand over the next aligners in the series. Most patients only need short visits.

5. Refinements + Retention

If the final result needs touch-ups, refinement aligners are produced (included in Comprehensive plans). Once finished, retainers preserve the result long-term.

Aftercare

Retainers are essential, teeth want to drift back. We supply Vivera (Invisalign brand) or thermoplastic retainers and schedule yearly retention reviews.

Common Questions

What does Platinum Elite Invisalign Provider mean?

Platinum Elite is the highest tier in Align Technology's provider programme, awarded based on the number of Invisalign cases completed and clinical outcome quality. Fewer than 1% of clinics worldwide hold this status. Practically, it means our orthodontists have planned and finished a high volume of cases, including complex ones, and have access to the full Invisalign clinical range.

How is Invisalign different from braces?

Invisalign uses removable clear plastic aligners; fixed braces use brackets bonded to your teeth with a continuous archwire. Invisalign is more discreet and easier to clean around, but requires self-discipline, aligners only work when worn 20–22 hours a day. Some complex cases (severe rotations, certain bite corrections) are still better treated with fixed braces. Your orthodontist will advise honestly which is the right tool.

Will Invisalign hurt?

Most patients describe pressure or tightness for the first 2–3 days after switching to a new aligner, easing through the wear cycle. It is not painless, teeth are being moved, but it is generally less uncomfortable than the days after a fixed-brace adjustment. Over-the-counter pain relief is enough for most patients on day one of a new aligner.

Can I eat and drink with my aligners in?

No. You take them out to eat and to drink anything other than water. This protects the aligners from staining and cracking, and prevents food from being pressed against your teeth for hours. Brush before reinserting whenever possible.

What is the ClinCheck planning fee?

It covers the iTero scan, photographs, digital case set-up and the ClinCheck simulation. You see your predicted outcome before committing to treatment. If you proceed, this fee is credited toward your package price. For the current amount, see the Invisalign cost guide.

Are there cases Invisalign can't fix?

Yes. Severe skeletal bite problems, very large rotations, certain extraction patterns and some complex finishing situations are still best treated with fixed braces, sometimes combined with surgery. Our orthodontists will tell you on day one if Invisalign is not the right tool for your case.

Can children have Invisalign?

Yes: Invisalign First is designed for children with mixed dentition (some baby teeth, some permanent). It addresses early-stage crowding, expansion and arch development. Phase 1 covers the early intervention period; Phase 2 is the comprehensive alignment phase once permanent teeth are present.

Will I need attachments or IPR?

Often, yes. Composite "attachments" (small tooth-coloured bumps bonded to specific teeth) help aligners grip and produce certain movements. IPR (interproximal reduction, a fraction of a millimetre filed between teeth) is sometimes used to create space without extractions. Both are planned in your ClinCheck and reversible/removable at the end of treatment.

What happens if I move to another country mid-treatment?

Your full digital records, iTero scans, ClinCheck files, photographs, can be shared with any Invisalign-trained orthodontist worldwide. Treatment is portable, and many international patients finish refinements with us in Vietnam after starting elsewhere.

Will I need to wear a retainer afterwards?

Yes, long-term. Teeth naturally want to drift, especially in the first year. We supply Vivera or thermoplastic retainers at the end of treatment and recommend nightly wear indefinitely to preserve your result.

Risks & Honest Tradeoffs

Invisalign is well-documented and predictable in suitable cases. It is not magic, here is what the literature reports, what can go wrong, and how Picasso minimises avoidable risk.

Compliance-Dependent Outcome

Invisalign only works when worn. Studies, including Rossini et al. (2015) on systematic review of clear aligner outcomes, consistently identify wear-time compliance as the single biggest determinant of treatment success. Aligners removed for hours every day will not move teeth on schedule.

What Can Go Wrong

Tracking failure (teeth drift behind the planned movement). Refinement aligners required (additional aligner sets to finish the case). Attachment debonding (composite buttons fall off and need re-bonding). Discomfort (pressure for 2–3 days after each new aligner, this is normal, not painless).

How We Minimise Risk

Specialist orthodontist case planning, not general dentists. ClinCheck preview approved before manufacturing. iTero scan accuracy at sub-30 microns. Composite attachments placed where biomechanics require. 6–10 week tracking checks throughout treatment. Refinements included in Comprehensive plans.

Cases Invisalign Cannot Solve

Severe skeletal bite problems, very large rotations, certain extraction-driven cases and some complex finishing situations are still better treated with fixed braces, sometimes combined with surgery. We tell you on day one if Invisalign is not the right tool.

The Retention Tradeoff

Teeth drift naturally throughout life, especially in the first year after orthodontics. Invisalign results are not permanent without retainers. We supply Vivera or thermoplastic retainers and recommend nightly wear indefinitely. Stop wearing them, and teeth will move back.

If We Can't Finish on Plan

Comprehensive plans include refinement aligners, additional sets manufactured if the final result needs touch-ups. Shorter packages (Essentials, Express, Lite) cover a defined number of aligners; refinements beyond that are quoted separately. We tell you upfront which package is realistic for your case.
