Full Mouth Reconstruction · Led by Dr. Hung Le Ba Gia (Dr. Evans) · Last reviewed May 2026
A New Smile, From Both Arches Up.
Picasso Dental performs full mouth dental implant reconstruction in Vietnam for both arches across the All-on-4, All-on-6 and All-on-X protocols, in Osstem, Neodent, Nobel Biocare and Straumann tiers. Up to 12 implants supporting two complete fixed bridges of 14 teeth each, every fixture covered by the manufacturer's original warranty, performed at hospital-based branches with full medical support on-site.
What is Full Mouth Implant Reconstruction?
Full mouth implant reconstruction replaces every tooth in both arches with permanent fixed bridges anchored to dental implants. It does not mean one implant per tooth, instead, 6 implants are placed in each jaw ( 12 total) to support two complete fixed bridges of 14 teeth each. Unlike removable dentures, the bridges are permanently anchored. Unlike individual implants for every position, the protocol is faster, less invasive and significantly more affordable.
Why Choose Full Mouth Implants?
A Fixed Bite, Not a Removable One
Conventional dentures sit on the gums, slip while eating, and need adhesive. Full mouth implants are anchored in bone. You eat, speak and laugh exactly as you would with natural teeth.
Bone Preservation
Long-term tooth loss causes the jawbone to shrink, the visible facial collapse seen in long-term denture wearers. Implants transmit chewing force into the bone and prevent this shrinkage.
One Treatment, Decades of Use
Documented 10-year implant survival is in the 98 percent range. Final fixed bridges last 20 years depending on material. This is a one-time treatment, not a lifelong cycle of relines and replacements.
Full Mouth Implant Pricing
Both arches restored. Pricing is tiered by configuration (All-on-4, All-on-6, mixed, or All-on-X custom) and by implant brand (Osstem, Neodent, Nobel Biocare, Straumann). All-inclusive of implants and fixed bridges. Add-ons (extractions, sinus lifts, bone grafts) quoted separately and only when CBCT shows they are needed. Pricing is itemised in your written quote after CBCT planning.
Single-arch pricing (one jaw only): see All-on-4 or All-on-6.
The Procedure, Step by Step
From your first consultation to your final fixed bridges. Total timeline: roughly 6 months from surgery to definitive bridges.
Consultation + CBCT
Clinical exam, medical history, blood tests, CBCT scan of both jaws. Treatment options compared in your preferred language.
Day 1 · 90 minSurgical Planning
Digital plan reviewed with the patient. Implant brand, position, angle, configuration and any adjunct procedures decided.
Day 2–3Surgery + Provisional
Failing teeth extracted, 12 implants placed under local anaesthetic with sedation. Provisional bridges fitted same or next day.
Surgery · 3–5 hrOsseointegration
Healing period during which the implants fuse with the jawbones. Provisional bridges worn throughout. Soft-to-normal diet progression.
~6 monthsFinal Fixed Bridges
Digital impressions, two definitive fixed bridges fabricated and fitted. Case file and implant serial numbers handed over.
2–3 visits · 2 weeksConfiguration Options for the Full Mouth
Three protocols cover almost every full-mouth case. The right one depends on your bone volume, bite force and budget.
All-on-4 (4 per arch)
When: Standard full-arch reconstruction. Rear implants angled to take advantage of available bone, often avoiding the need for sinus lifts.
Best for: Most patients · Faster surgery · Most economical full-arch option.
Trade-off: Slightly less load distribution than All-on-6.
All-on-6 (6 per arch)
When: Adequate bone volume permits the additional implants. Improved load distribution, smaller cantilevers, longer-term stability.
Best for: Patients prioritising long-term durability · Heavy bite force · Younger patients with decades of expected function ahead.
Trade-off: Higher cost than All-on-4.
All-on-X (custom: 5, 7, 8 per arch)
When: Anatomy or load demands a non-standard configuration. Complex cases, asymmetric bone loss, or extreme parafunction.
Best for: Cases where neither All-on-4 nor All-on-6 fits cleanly · Decided after CBCT.
Trade-off: Pricing and timeline customised per case.
Mixed (4 upper + 6 lower, etc.)
When: Upper jaw bone differs significantly from lower. Common scenario, since the upper jaw is softer bone and often has sinus considerations the lower does not.
Best for: Asymmetric anatomy · Optimising cost-to-stability ratio.
Trade-off: None, this is often the most rational choice.
Final Bridge Materials
The fixed bridges that sit on top of your implants come in two main material classes. Each has its own trade-offs.
| Material | Aesthetics | Strength | Repairability | Lifespan | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Acrylic on Titanium | Good | Good | Easy (re-glaze, replace teeth) | 10–12 years | Lower |
| Monolithic Zirconia | Excellent | Excellent | Limited (full bridge replacement) | 15–20+ years | Higher |
| Zirconia-Layered Ceramic | Outstanding | Very Good | Limited | 12–18 years | Highest |
For full-mouth cases, monolithic zirconia is the most common recommendation, the strength-to-aesthetics balance is hard to beat across two complete arches.
Complex Cases: When the Standard Protocol Doesn't Fit
Severe bone loss, medical complexity and anaesthesia preferences are common in full-mouth patients. Here is how Picasso handles each.
Severe Upper Bone Loss
Solutions: Sinus lift augmentation (open or closed), zygomatic implants anchored in the cheekbone, or pterygoid implants in the rear of the upper jaw. We tell you on day one whether bone is the limiting factor.
Severe Lower Bone Loss
Solutions: Block grafting, ridge augmentation, or shorter implant designs (Straumann short implants). The lower jaw heals faster than the upper, grafting timelines are typically 4 months.
Medical Complexity
Two of our six branches operate inside accredited hospitals (Vinmec Da Nang, Link General Da Lat) with full emergency medical support, anaesthesiology and on-site cardiology consultation for medically complex patients.
General Anaesthesia
Available at our hospital-based branches for patients who prefer to be fully asleep during the longer surgical sessions full-mouth cases require. Administered by qualified anaesthesiologists.
IV Sedation
The standard for most full-mouth surgeries. Patient is conscious but deeply relaxed, typically remembers little of the procedure. Recovery is faster than general anaesthesia.
Failed Existing Implants
If you have previously placed implants that have failed, we can often integrate or replace them within a new full-mouth plan. Bring any records you have, we work with whatever brand was originally used.
Are You a Good Candidate?
Full mouth implants suit most adults missing all or most of their teeth. Here are the conditions that change the answer, all decided after your CBCT scan and medical history review.
You're a Strong Candidate If
You are an adult (~18+) in generally good health with most or all teeth missing or failing.
Your jawbone has adequate volume in at least key positions, or you accept grafting / sinus lifts if needed.
Your gums are healthy, or any active gum disease has been treated first.
If diabetic, your HbA1c is well-controlled (ideally below 7%).
You do not smoke, or are willing to stop at least 2 weeks before surgery and 8 weeks after.
You can attend basic 6-month recall visits, locally or with us.
Full Mouth Implants May Not Be Right If
You have uncontrolled diabetes, healing and integration are significantly compromised.
You have active, untreated periodontal disease, must be resolved first.
You have recently received IV bisphosphonate therapy (typically for cancer).
You are a heavy smoker unwilling to stop or significantly reduce.
You have active radiation therapy to the jaw.
You are pregnant, we postpone elective implant surgery until after delivery.

Caring for Your Full Mouth Reconstruction
Full mouth implants are a one-time treatment. With basic maintenance, modern implants routinely last 25 years or more. Here is the schedule that keeps yours that way.
First 2 Weeks
Soft food, no smoking, no straws, no vigorous rinsing. Mild swelling is normal and peaks around day 3. Take prescribed antibiotics and pain relief as directed. Provisional bridges in place throughout.
Months 6
Provisional bridges worn while implants integrate. Soft-to-normal diet progression. WhatsApp check-ins with our team if you have travelled home.
Daily, Forever
Brush twice daily with a soft toothbrush. A water flosser is the single most useful tool, full-arch bridges have hard-to-reach undersides that floss alone struggles with. Interdental brushes for around the implant heads.
Every 6 Months
Professional cleaning of the bridges, soft-tissue check around each implant, visual inspection. Identical to a natural-tooth recall, slightly longer because there are more surfaces to clean.
Year 1 X-ray Check
Standard 12-month X-ray to confirm bone levels around each implant are stable. Standard practice for all implant patients globally.
What to Avoid
Smoking is the single biggest threat to implant longevity. Untreated peri-implantitis is the second. Hard objects (ice, pen caps, fingernails) are unkind to bridges and implants alike. Heavy grinders may need a night guard.
The International Full Mouth Journey
Two paths for patients flying in from abroad for a full mouth reconstruction. Choose the one that fits your time, your budget and your case complexity.
Option A: Two Trips (Standard)
Trip 1 ( 14 days): Consultation, CBCT, extractions, surgery, provisional bridges fitted, recovery period in Vietnam, fly home with provisional bridges in place.
Wait at home: Approximately 6 months osseointegration. We check in over WhatsApp.
Trip 2 ( 14 days): Final impressions, definitive bridges fabricated and fitted, case file delivery.
Best for: Most patients · Full bone healing time at home · Travel split across two trips.
Option B: Single Extended Trip
One trip ( 6 months): Consultation, CBCT, surgery, provisional, healing in Vietnam, final bridges, all in one stay.
Best for: Retirees · Remote workers · Patients who can take an extended period in Vietnam.
Bonus: Low cost of living during healing · Beach recovery in Da Nang or mountain recovery in Da Lat · Continuous care under the same team for the entire treatment.
Risks & Success Rates: Honestly
No surgery is risk-free, and full-mouth reconstruction is a longer, more demanding procedure than a single implant. Here is what the literature reports and how Picasso minimises every avoidable risk.
Documented Success Rate
Long-term clinical literature consistently reports implant survival in the 98 percent range over 10 years for healthy patients placed by experienced clinicians, confirmed by the systematic review of Moraschini et al. (2015) covering more than 14,000 implants across 23 studies. Full-arch protocols (All-on-4, All-on-6) show comparable survival.
What Can Go Wrong
Failure to integrate at one or more positions (rare). Peri-implantitis (gum disease around an implant). Bridge fracture or chipping. Anaesthesia-related complications (mitigated by hospital-based delivery).
How We Minimise Risk
CBCT 3D imaging before every surgery. Autoclave sterilisation. Medical history screening with cardiology / endocrinology clearance where indicated. Genuine brand fixtures only. Surgical planning reviewed before any incision. On-site emergency medical support at our hospital-partner branches.
If Something Goes Wrong
If an implant fails to integrate within 6 months, we re-place it at no additional cost. If a bridge fractures within the warranty period, we replace it. We don't invoice you to fix our own work.
Smoking & Full-Mouth Implants
Smoking roughly doubles implant failure risk and significantly increases peri-implantitis. With 12 implants in play, the cumulative risk over a full mouth is meaningful, we strongly recommend stopping at least 2 weeks before surgery and remaining smoke-free for 8 weeks after.
Anaesthesia Safety
Full-mouth surgery typically takes 5 hours under IV sedation or general anaesthesia. Performing it in a hospital-based branch (Vinmec Da Nang, Link General Da Lat) means cardiology, anaesthesiology and emergency medicine are all on-site. We strongly recommend this for medically complex patients.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does full mouth dental implant treatment cost in Vietnam?
Full mouth implant reconstruction (both arches) is priced by configuration (All-on-4 vs All-on-6 vs custom All-on-X) and implant brand (Osstem, Neodent, Nobel Biocare, Straumann). Both-arch pricing for each configuration is published on our implant cost guide. Prices include all implants and the fixed bridges.
What does full mouth dental implants mean?
Full mouth dental implant reconstruction replaces every tooth in both arches with permanent fixed bridges anchored to dental implants. It does not mean one implant per tooth, instead, 6 implants per arch ( 12 total) support two complete fixed bridges of 14 teeth each.
How long does full mouth treatment take?
From surgery to final fixed bridges typically takes around six months, surgical placement on day one (often with provisional bridges fitted the same or next day), followed by an osseointegration period during which the implants fuse with the bone, then final bridge fitting.
What's the difference between All-on-4, All-on-6 and individual implants?
All-on-4 uses four implants per arch and is the most economical full-arch protocol. All-on-6 uses six implants per arch and provides better load distribution. Individual implants per tooth ( 28 implants for full mouth) is rarely indicated and is significantly more expensive. We recommend the configuration after CBCT review.
Will I leave the clinic with teeth on the day of surgery?
In most cases, yes. Picasso fits provisional fixed bridges on the day of surgery or the following day for immediate-load cases. The final, definitive bridges are fitted after osseointegration is complete, typically 6 months later.
Can I have full mouth implants if I have heavy bone loss?
Often yes, the All-on-4 protocol was specifically designed to use available bone by angling the rear implants. For severe bone loss, options include sinus lift augmentation, block grafts, or zygomatic implants (anchored in the cheekbone). Our CBCT scan tells us which approach fits your case.
Is full mouth implant surgery done under sedation?
It can be. Most patients have surgery under local anaesthetic with optional oral or IV sedation administered by qualified anaesthesiologists at our hospital-partner branches (Vinmec Da Nang and Link General Da Lat). General anaesthesia is available for patients who prefer to be fully asleep during surgery.
Where is full mouth implant surgery performed?
At any of our six branches, with two hospital-based locations strongly recommended for full-mouth cases: Vinmec International Hospital Da Nang and Link General Hospital Da Lat. Hospital-based surgery provides on-site emergency medical support, recommended for the longer surgical sessions full-mouth cases require.
How long do full mouth implants last?
The implant fixtures themselves routinely last 25 years or more, with documented 10-year survival in the 98 percent range. The fixed bridges on top typically last 20 years before considering replacement, depending on material (acrylic-on-titanium vs zirconia).
Can I have full mouth implants in one trip?
Most international patients split treatment across two trips: surgery and provisional bridges on trip one ( 10 days), then final bridges on trip two after osseointegration ( 7 days). Patients with longer availability complete both phases in a single extended stay in Vietnam ( 6 months).
What materials are used for the final bridges?
Two main options. Acrylic-on-titanium hybrid bridges are lighter, more economical, and easier to repair. Monolithic zirconia bridges are stronger, more aesthetic, more resistant to staining, and longer-lasting. We recommend based on your bite force, aesthetic priorities and budget.
What if I am medically complex?
Picasso operates two hospital-based branches (Vinmec Da Nang and Link General Da Lat) specifically for medically complex cases. Cardiology, endocrinology, and anaesthesiology support is on-site, and we coordinate clearance with treating physicians before any surgery.
Related Treatments
All-on-4 (Single Arch)
Full upper or lower arch missing or failing. Four strategically placed implants supporting a complete fixed bridge of 14 teeth.
All-on-6 (Single Arch)
Six implants per arch with improved load distribution. Recommended where bone volume permits and maximum stability is the priority.
Implant-Supported Dentures
Fewer implants (typically 4 per arch) supporting a removable overdenture that snaps onto them. More economical alternative to fixed bridges.
